Vyvanse is very much so abusable. I know this because I'm in a living hell right now from abusing. F

rom Thursday night until Saturday morning, I managed to take a total of 250mg of this medication. There were a couple scares where I thought I had overdosed (rapid heartbeat, higher than it usually climbs to while taking this, whole body tremors, and several others I cannot think of). After going about 8 hours from taking one, I took my last two Vyvanse at 10:30 Saturday morning & 1:30 Saturday afternoon. In less than twelve hours I will hit the 72 hour point of no sleep and only eating a half of a hamburger and ten fries or so.

I thought the effects had worn off and that I was crashing and was going to be able to sleep. Boy was I wrong. I laid in my bed for approximately an hour in a half, in the dark with my eyes closed. I was having CEVs (closed eyes visuals) and a feeling in my whole body that felt like my insides were being pulled into a black neverending hole. As of now (4:32am Sunday morning) I'm having horrible hallucinations. The two that are bothering me most is a hamper full of hangers that look like they are twisting and forming on their own, twisting the sides of the basket as well. Another one is an eerie yellow color coming from the keyboard of my phone. Its there when I look at it, but when I turn my light on and look at it under that, it looks fine. Oh, and the place that looks like the space bar is detatching from the keyboard. I don't know what to do, I guess just wait until I finally fall asleep.

In conclusion, I'm sure any ADD/ADHD medicine can definitely be abused if that person wants it badly enough.

yeah I guess they just mean you can't snort it... sad story, I know where your at. I did the same with Ritalin, up for three days straight and slight hallucinations. Hard to believe that there is no shut off with this stuff. It's time to detox obv. Hope you can get help.

That's just a market scheme to get the drug pushed instead of Adderall, you weren't even close to overdosing on the drug itself the lethal dose is around 4 grams, although you can have a heart attack on high doses. I've used it recreationally a couple times going up to around 300mg over a 3 day period. I don't abuse my meds by any means I was just curious as to what the hype was about a speed high. It was most likely just anxiety that made you think your heart was beating faster than it really was.

The reason it's labeled a "prodrug" is because it can't be snorted or injected. You can obviously abuse it orally but if you do your supply will run out before you can re fill the script so It's not really worth it. Just don't abuse them again you're lucky that your heart could handle that much d-amp. Also 250mg of vyvanse ~ 120-130mg of amphetamine so I know 250mg sounds like a heroic dose when it's not really if it were adderall you might have died or had a stroke.

i was abusing it two. only i was taking 2 60s a day. my wife has it now and only gives me one. i would be a mess for 15 days because i would run out. so stupid.. i just have a hard time during the day around this time. so i am here with my thoughts. its been a while..

firefighter its good to hear that you caught on to your problem so fast and had such a great solution, i have this feeling that its less addicting aside from there claims of non iv which im not questioning. It's the fact that its the newest one? sounds like a cheap technicality to me. these things are powerful and definately have a pretty good potential for abuse.

You are probably dehydrated. Drink plenty of water, eat, and try to sleep. Once your body gets water, food, and sleep, the hallucinations will go away. Do you have anyone you can talk to about your problem? If I were you, I would check myself in a rehab. I'm sorry to hear what you're going through. I've been in your shoes. I know what it's like. Remember that the way you feel right now will pass.

Vyvanse is very much so abusive. When I told my friends my doctor replaced my adderal with vyvanse, it became the new study drug at my high school. I was irresponsible to sell them but I did because of the situation I was in at the time. I stopped selling them when I decided it was better for me to use them as the doctor prescribed. I never abused them myself but I could definately see the potential for abuse.

Yes, snorting Vyvanse is bad. It burned my nose so bad I was crying. I abuse it, too. I get 30 of the 70's every month, and I'm out within a week and a half, usually. I convince myself they wear off, or maybe they actually do. My brain hurts, lol.

My SO had a problem with it as well. I had an old prescription for them that I discontinued using because just a 60mg dose was giving me a panic attack everyday. I tried hiding them in various places, and he continually went behind my back to find them and take them. He would always tell me when he found them and if he had taken them, and how many he took, but it was driving me crazy! I finally just had to flush them down the toilet. He didn't need them, and I definitely didn't want them. They're better off in the septic tank.

First of all you have script and you don't know not to snort it? It's absorbed through the digestive track. The only think you'll feel from snorting is whatever is in the drip. You should ask your pdoc about how your meds work to avoid going through something like that. I mean, I've been there, muscle relaxants set your nose on fire and do next to nothing. Just make a point of asking your pdoc about the body chemistry of what you take.

I've actually found Vyv hard to abuse, as taking it provides me with very little recreational value. It's like taking bad E, just all speedy, and no real state of ecstasy. I've abused it to study, but it was miserable two nights without sleep and 3 days without food, and the crash was no fun. The body aches start, but the Vyv is still there, so you can't just lay in bed doing nothing. This was however, worth it to me, because of all the work i actually accomplished.

The only time I've taken it for recreation purposes was a total of 120 mg--30 mg on the half hour before going out. I was just speedy, and that's all. I spent the rest of the night lying in bed, running my tongue over my teeth so much that in the morning when I looked in the mirror and I had worn down the middle of my tongue to the point that is was only half the thickness of the rest of my tongue. I but my fingernails all down to bloody stumps and didn't notice until my hands were covered in blood. Finally, the crash. I was shopping with my mom when I got a terrible panic attack. I ran out of the store and she found me curled up in an alley 15 minutes later. We immediately got in a cab and when we got back my mom made sure I took a bar of xanax (yes, I periodically deny that I need meds at all) and .5mg of kpin.

3 hours later I met a friend for dinner and I was so zonked out she thought I was straight up wasted. I was so tired from the benzos, but I made it through dinner, but the minute I got into bed, my mind started racing again. All I wanted was sleep (I didn't sleep at all the night I took it). I have a history of self-harm and I had been doing really well with it, but suddenly I just really felt like I needed a pair of scissors that minute. I tried to find them in my room, but my mom had evidently had the foresight to remove all the sharp objects from my room. I took another bar to go to sleep. The next morning I woke up in my bed with my left arm torn to shreds, sheets bloodstained and next to me was the x-acto knife from my art box.

That morning, waking up and realizing what I had done to myself, was enough to scare me out of Vyvanse abuse. Vyvanse works on dopamine, so the abuse of it can lead to a serious dopamine deficiency, creating a crash that is characterized by a decreased mood, but also painful body aches due to the the constant state of strain it is put on with zero rest during a Vyv binge.

Basically, Vyvanse, I think at least, really does have a low abuse potential, unless you particularly like teeth grinding, an aching body, and a crash so intense you the potential to black out and wake up surrounded by you're own blood.

In all seriousness though, Vyvanse is XR because of the way it is absorbed. And unlike addy XR, opening up and crushing won't change that. It cannot be snorted, it really just has to be taken or eaten.

And seriously, with things like addy around, why chose Vyv? No euphoria, just a minimum of 36 hours of muted personalty, a pounding heart, only to be followed by a fit of depression. I'd choose the "addy glow" over Vyv for fun. Really, I can't think of anything fun about Vyvanse abuse...

If you have a good story about a few Vyv fueled binge, I would love to hear it! When trying to take it recreationally though, it lead to a disaster that I'm not willing to live. I have found that it's fun to mix with other things though, but maybe that is best discussed over PM? I would love to hear about a good weekend on Vyv though if you have a story!


Abuse by kids that don't have scripts it s totally separate issue, but Vyv is usually not purchased off script for recreational use, but rather for its intended use.

I have to post on this cuz stimulant abuse used to be a severe prblem for me.. Around my JR yr in High school I got turned onto Adderall cuz I was falling alseep in school and wanted to do good.. a buddy was like here try this.. Off of a 30mg addy xr I was running around the school and acing math tests... Well one thing led to another and by the end of the yr i was doing about 200 mg a day snorting popping and parachuting them.. Well I decided to stop the speed around march or so of my jr yr untill around january my sr when I got into coke rllly bad.. I did coke damn near every day a gram to three a day.. graduated around may where i got turned onto mephedrone and did meth for my first and last time.. Ever since then I had chased a very distant dragon... I was soing about 400-800 mg of adderall a day NO LIE snorting 100 sometimes 200 mg lines of the ****.. this was from about jully to feb where I was practically schitzo cuz i was on an emphedemine psychosis.. I dried to OD in Feb taking my anti depressents about 40 oxys 20 zanex and 10-20 diazepam.. along with to bottles of tylynol... I woke up a week and a half later in a psych ward where the doc who was shocked i was awake told me I should be dead but the be4nzos slowed down my heart to the point where they could detox me... I was in coma for about a week and a half checked myself into rehab and four months later after NA and AODA conceling I feel like my normal self but even better...

My doc put me on serequil, lomictal odt both for bipolar and Vyvanse 50 mg soon to be upped to 70 Instantly i was worried being a recoverying addict.. But I took it as prescribed and almost felt as tho it was a god send... I dont find a need to abuse it cuz I get no euphoria from it no rush.. yet at the same time I find my self full of energy yet completely focussed... I've taken too 50s and didnt' rlly notice a dif other then grinding my teeth..
All n all I find no urge to abuse it and it trully help with my adhd and lack of motivation... I dont rlly find anything wrong with it.

Agreed, I am a recovering narc addict and I was clean for 3 months before my phsyc put my on vyvanse. Very Scared. Was it going to give me that euphoria that narcs did? Very skeptical because all I was taking was vitamins and clonazepam for night terrors, panic attacks. Never did get addicted to those, which surprised my Dr. Only one feeling I like and that was the opiate. So I gave it a try, and if you truly have adhd, there is no high feeling, it is a pleasant, motivated, like your mind is in order. Hard to explain. Dont know what happens is you take it and you dont have adhd but for me, I dont see abuse in my future because this has changed my life and I am not messing that up again.

I guess our metabolisms are all very unique and different. I dont' abuse , nor have I ever desired too. I have always required the off label maxims for ritalin meds and have tried amp a few times. My doctor said I could take 3 tablets of the 50mg vyvanse, I've done so, felt absolutely nothing like you guys describe. I don't understand what high your talking about. I slept fine ? Kind of strange how some guy was saying his teeth were grinding on two 60's and for me I just worked at the office went to the gym and went to sleep around 11pm. What the heck are you guys talking about.

Do they have a 12 step prgram for thior this kind of addiciton or would nar-anon be helpful? I don't abuse but I just thought it would help. I think that hard part would be abusing and knowing you need the meds so quitting and then resuming the regular dose. Alcoholics can't have a little bit of alcohol or they usually relapse. How do you all cope with previous addiction to stims and then resuming a dosing schedule?
